Taking indie hip-hop music into the curious world of video games, Cartier Grim is one of the boldest names on the underground rapper scene today.
He’s just released his new single, “Made in Heaven,” and it’s already getting very good reviews from fans and critics alike. We’ve got to say: This is pioneering and very synchronized with the Gen Z music taste, which we feel is spot on!
Cartier Grim has been making music and releasing it on Spotify since 2018, In 2022 he started to prepare some different, and after some research and analysing of his own life experience he found some artistic inspiration. That’s when he discovered that gaming could be an amazing source of inspiration for his music.

He started out with hip-hop and pop, but he soon realized that there was more to his sound than that: he began to incorporate elements of trap and electronic music into his songs as well.
Using synths effects and a lot of autotune, he created this atmosphere for something that could be a new music genre, the subgenre of gamer hip-hop.
“Made in Heaven” is a perfect example of this evolution in Cartier’s sound: it combines bright synth production with a strong gamer influence and a catchy chorus about being “the player” in a relationship. It really shows off how far Cartier has come as an artist!

The rapper is very young, and some of his songs bring an experimental style to hip-hop, which does not mean he cannot produce hip-hop with a more familiar style in the future. Anyhow, his intention is to innovate, as he mentioned in his interview:
“This is a song I released for my 20th birthday on April 18th. I would describe it as a video game-inspired alternative hip-hop song. I would also describe it as pop hip-hop. I think it is very different from what a lot of artists around my age and who are underground and trying to come up, like me, are making.”
