Overview
At PopHits.Co, we are committed to providing one of the most affordable and accessible music distribution services in the world. Our mission is to support independent artists fairly and transparently.
This Refund Policy explains clearly when a refund may be issued and when it will not be — so you can make an informed decision before submitting your music for distribution.
By purchasing any service on PopHits.Co, you confirm that you have read and accepted this Refund Policy in full, along with our Terms of Service.
What Our Service Covers
When you pay for distribution on PopHits.Co, you are paying for:
The submission and delivery of your music release to over 150 streaming platforms and digital stores worldwide.
This service is performed the moment your release is processed and dispatched to the network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs). Whether a streaming platform subsequently approves, features, or maintains your release is entirely outside our control and is governed solely by each platform’s own editorial standards, quality requirements, and internal rules.
This model is consistent with industry-standard practice across all music distribution services globally.
Before distributing, we strongly encourage you to review our Release Checklist and the official documentation of each major streaming platform linked in this policy.
When a Refund IS Available
A refund may be requested only in the event of a verified technical failure on our part, specifically:
- A payment was successfully charged but your release was never submitted to any streaming platform due to a platform error on our side.
- A duplicate charge occurred due to a technical fault in our payment system.
- You were billed for a service plan but were unable to access the platform due to a technical issue directly caused by PopHits.Co, and the issue was not resolved within a reasonable timeframe after being reported to our support team.
To request a refund under these conditions, contact us at info@pophits.co with your account email, transaction reference, and a description of the technical issue. We will investigate and respond within 5 business days.
When a Refund Is NOT Available
1. Release Rejected by a Streaming Platform
If your release is rejected by Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, Deezer, or any other streaming platform after being correctly submitted by PopHits.Co, no refund will be issued.
Our service — the delivery of your release to streaming platforms — was completed successfully on our part. The rejection is a decision made solely and independently by the streaming platform under their own terms and content policies. PopHits.Co has no influence over, and no liability for, these decisions.
Each major platform maintains its own published content standards. You are responsible for ensuring your release complies with these standards before submission. See the official platform documentation in the section below.
2. Change of Mind
If you decide you no longer wish to distribute your release after payment has been processed, no refund will be issued. The distribution process begins promptly after purchase.
3. User Error
If your release is rejected due to incorrect metadata, wrong file format, missing information, or any other error introduced by you during the upload process, no refund will be issued.
4. Violation of Our Terms of Service or Distribution Conditions
If your account is suspended or your release is removed due to a breach of our Terms of Service — including but not limited to streaming fraud, prohibited content, or intellectual property violations — no refund will be issued.
5. Inactivity or Abandonment
If you do not use your account or withdraw your release after purchasing a plan, no refund will be issued.
Common Reasons Streaming Platforms Reject Releases
The following are the most frequent reasons why a release may be rejected by a streaming platform. These decisions are made exclusively by the platforms — not by PopHits.Co.
- Too much similar content already in stores — e.g. ambient noise, background noise, nature sounds, ASMR, or generic instrumentals with no clear artistic identity
- Poor quality sound recording — e.g. MIDI-generated or low-fidelity audio that does not meet professional mastering standards
- Poor quality or non-compliant artwork — not meeting platform minimum resolution, format, or content standards
- Potential copyright violation — e.g. Lo-fi versions, slowed edits, remixes, or any use of copyrighted material without proper clearance and licensing
- Suspicion of fraudulent streaming activity — including use of bots, click-farms, or artificial manipulation of play counts
- AI-generated audio — majority use of artificial intelligence to generate the track, including detection of AI artefacts such as unnatural vocals, timing issues, or synthetic distortions; impersonation of another artist’s voice or likeness using AI tools
- Repeated or duplicate submissions — multiple copies of the same content submitted with minor title or artist name variations
- Non-compliance with metadata standards — incorrect credits, missing ISRC codes, improper title casing, or use of marketing phrases in metadata fields
- Misleading content — content designed to mimic popular releases, or use of trademarked names without authorisation
Official Platform Standards — Read Before You Submit
Each streaming platform publishes its own official submission requirements, content policies, and rules on AI-generated music. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with these before submitting your release.
Spotify
Audio File Requirements support.spotify.com — Audio File Formats Deliver your highest-quality native stereo master in WAV or FLAC format. Minimum 16-bit / 44.1 kHz. Do not downsample or reduce bit depth before delivery — Spotify handles all format conversions internally.
Content Policy & Metadata Standards Spotify Content Policy Guidelines (via FUGA) Generic content, poor quality audio, duplicate submissions, and content without a clear artistic identity may be rejected or suppressed from recommendations.
AI Music Policy — Updated September 2025 Spotify Newsroom — Strengthening AI Protections for Artists Spotify has introduced mandatory disclosure requirements for AI-generated music, using the DDEX industry standard. Unauthorised vocal cloning and artist impersonation are prohibited. Spam tactics — including mass uploads, near-duplicate audio, and AI-generated content without artistic identity — are filtered. In 2025, Spotify removed over 75 million spammy tracks from its catalogue.
Apple Music
Official Style Guide Apple Music Style Guide Covers all metadata standards including title formatting, artist credits, artwork requirements, and prohibited content. Releases that are misleading, duplicate, or fail to follow style rules will be hidden.
Audio & Video Asset Requirements Apple Video and Audio Asset Guide Full technical specifications for audio files, artwork, and video assets accepted by Apple Music.
AI Transparency Requirements Apple Music Specification Apple has introduced the <ai_transparencies> metadata tag for disclosing AI usage in content. Misleading use of AI — including mimicking popular releases or impersonating artists — will result in content being hidden or rejected.
TikTok
Music Terms of Service — Effective July 2025 TikTok Music Terms of Service You must own or have licensed all rights to any music you distribute to TikTok. AI-generated music must be clearly disclosed. Voice cloning without explicit permission from the artist is prohibited. TikTok may mute or remove AI music that misappropriates a person’s likeness.
Community Guidelines — Effective September 2025 TikTok Community Guidelines All content must comply with TikTok’s community standards. Copyrighted material used without authorisation will be muted or removed. TikTok’s automated audio recognition system detects unauthorised music use.
Commercial Music Library Terms TikTok Commercial Music Library Terms Music distributed through TikTok is subject to separate licensing requirements for commercial and brand use. Tracks cleared for TikTok are not licensed for cross-platform use.
Deezer
AI Detection & Content Policy — 2025/2026 Deezer Newsroom — 28% of Delivered Music is Now Fully AI-Generated Deezer is the first streaming platform to explicitly tag and label AI-generated music using its proprietary detection tool. Fully AI-generated tracks are automatically removed from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists.
Deezer Newsroom — AI Detection Tool & Demonetisation Policy (January 2026) As of January 2026, up to 85% of streams on fully AI-generated tracks have been identified as fraudulent and demonetised. Deezer’s detection tool (99.8% accuracy) identifies content from major generative models including Suno and Udio. Fraudulent streams are permanently excluded from royalty payments.
Your Responsibility as an Artist
Before submitting your release, it is your responsibility to ensure:
- Your audio recording is professionally mixed and mastered, free from glitches, pops, silence padding, and AI-generated artefacts
- Your artwork meets each platform’s resolution, format, and content requirements
- Your release does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
- Any use of AI in your production is disclosed in accordance with each platform’s current policy
- All metadata (artist name, track title, UPC, ISRC, performer credits) is accurate, complete, and correctly formatted
- Your content has not been previously distributed under a different title or with minor variations constituting a duplicate submission
- Your content complies with the terms and conditions of each streaming platform you are distributing to
PopHits.Co provides general guidance through our Artist Resources section. We strongly recommend reviewing all platform-specific documentation linked above before uploading.
Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer based in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you may have statutory rights under applicable consumer protection legislation, including rights in relation to digital content and services. Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or excludes any rights you may have under applicable law that cannot be excluded by contract.
If you believe you have a valid consumer rights claim, please contact us at info@pophits.co before initiating a chargeback or dispute with your payment provider. We are committed to resolving legitimate concerns fairly and promptly.
