I’ve been a big fan of indie rock music for a really long time. Over the past few years, some of my favourite bands have been those that fly under the mainstream radar. The amazing thing is, they get more and more popular each year!
Years ago I decided to try listening to certain bands from around the globe and was shocked when I found out how popular they were in countries like Spain, Germany and Japan. It took me quite some time to hunt for them on YouTube (because I’m old school) but every last search was worth it.
It’s hard to keep up with all the upcoming indie bands these days. There are just so many of them, and it seems like every day new music comes out from artists we’ve never heard of before. I know all this is a cliche but, seriously, don’t you want to hear today’s most promising new indie rock bands?

1) QUANTUM – Desperate(LY)
I recently came across a new band called Quantum, and I have to say, I’m totally obsessed. Their track Desperate is a song that just speaks to me on so many levels. It’s like the perfect combination of alternative, rock, metal and melodic metalcore—all at once!
The vocals are really powerful—they’re definitely male, but they have an edge to them that makes them feel more like hard rock than metalcore. They remind me of bands like Europe or even Judas Priest at times. The music is just as powerful as the vocals—it’s got a great beat and tons of energy, but there are also some softer parts that make you want to sing along and feel inspired.
Quantum is based in Europe (I can tell because they sing in English), so if you like European bands like Rammstein or Nightwish, then you’ll probably love this group too!
Check out their music video and follow the band on Spotify to support their career.
2) PROVE YOU WRONG – So It Begins
If you’re looking for some new indie rock songs to check out, I have a great recommendation: the band PROVE YOU WRONG.
Their song “So It Begins” is the perfect tune to get you in the mood for a night of hard rock music. It’s got a catchy chorus and some great guitar riffs and drum beats that are sure to get you ready to party in no time.
The lead singer has an amazing voice that will remind you of classic rock bands like AC/DC or Aerosmith, but with a modern twist on it that will keep your ears happy all night long.
If you’re looking for something fun and upbeat but also super heavy, then this is definitely your jam!
Listen to their new release and don’t forget to follow them on Spotify.
3) ROGUE PROXY – Paparazzi Sniper
One of the best things about being a music lover is hearing new sounds and discovering new bands. That’s why I’m so excited to write this review of Rogue Proxy, an indie rock band based out of Canada!
Rogue Proxy brought us 80s rock vibes with a glam rock touch, —but their sound goes beyond those genres. They’ve managed to create something totally original and fresh, and they’re definitely one of the best up-and-coming indie bands around right now.
If you like your rock classic and have a taste for the glitzy side of life (or if you just love songs that make you want to dance), you need to check out their track called “Paparazzi Sniper.” It’s got a super catchy guitar riff that’s guaranteed to get stuck in your head, but it also has some seriously impressive vocals from the lead singer. His voice is so smooth and silky that it’ll make you want to close your eyes and sway back and forth while listening. Plus, there are some pretty sweet harmonies from the bassist that just add another layer of complexity and richness to the song overall—it’s hard not to enjoy their Rock!
4) TATUM QUINN – Sell Your Soul
In the world of indie rock, there are those who write and perform their songs in a solitary, solo act, and then there are those who create music as a band. Tatum Quinn is one of the latter, and they’re making waves in Canada with their new song “Sell Your Soul.”
This track is one of many on the band’s new album that takes on a classic indie rock sound with a modern twist. It has an alt-rock vibe to it with some pop elements thrown in that make it accessible to all kinds of listeners. The lyrics are catchy and upbeat, but there’s also an underlying dark quality—something you might expect from an artist like Hozier or Lorde—that makes this song stand out from others on its album. The drums are crisp and punchy, the guitar riffs are heavy and crunchy, and the piano chords give off a cinematic feel that gives off an epic quality overall.
The singer-songwriter does an amazing job on vocals throughout this track: she has a powerful voice that conveys emotion very well through her strong tones.”Sell Your Soul” is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something different
5) PULSE PARK – Phonac Music
Rock, indie rock, post-punk, alternative, and all the other genres that make up the melting pot of music we all love are constantly changing. It’s one of the reasons that I’m so excited about this new up and coming band called PULSE PARK. They are now releasing their first full album on Spotify called Phonac Music.
My favourite track is Sine Waves. It’s classic rock with a modern twist—a little bit of grunge, a little bit of indie pop, and lots of classic rock sound that reminds me of 90’s rock (if you know what I mean). And PULSE PARK’s lead singer has got some pipes on him!
If you’re looking for something new to listen to that will inspire you to get out there and create some magic in your life (or just enjoy some great tunes), then look no further than PULSE PARK!
6) LEONARDO BARILARO – Genesis
I’m always on the lookout for new indie rock songs, and I’ve recently discovered a singer with an EP called Genesis that I love.
Leonardo Barilaro is a musician who blends elements of prog rock, classical music, and instrumental with cinematic sounds to create songs that are both relaxing and edgy.
Travelling Home Without Me is my favourite track on this EP; it’s an uplifting piece that has a strong classical sound with a touch of heavy metal in the background. It starts out with just drums and guitar, no vocals, and before building up into full orchestration you can hear the guitar solo that gives goosebumps. If you’re looking for some new indie rock songs to listen to while chilling out or getting ready for bed at night, then this track Travelling Home Without Me is definitely worth checking out!
Follow the artist to support his great work.
7) SODA CRACKER JESUS – Hoping For The Best
SODA CRACKER JESUS is a new up and coming rock band that you need to hear now. Their single, “Hoping For The Best,” is a track that has everything you could want in an indie rock song: catchy guitar riffs, beautiful harmonies, and lyrics that are sure to make you feel that emotional side of music.
The band’s sound is reminiscent of the Beach Boys and The Beatles with a modern twist—think “Pork And Beans” by Weezer meets “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles, but the 22s version, which is very well produced.
The song begins with an upbeat guitar riff that sounds like it came straight out of a 60s surf movie soundtrack, accompanied by haunting vocals in the background. As the song progresses, the vocals become clearer and louder until they’re singing over each other in harmony. It’s hard not to get caught up in their energy as they sing about “I questioning everything I do”, and concluding “I don’t know why I’m sad”… or whatever else might be on their minds at the moment!
SODA CRACKER JESUS is definitely one to keep an eye on if you’re looking for something new!
Now support the band, follow them on Spotify.
8) JANE N’ THE JUNGLE – Ocean Creatures
JANE N’ THE JUNGLE is a true gem. The band is based in the US and their music is a perfect blend of post-punk, grunge and hard rock. Their single Ocean Creatures is one of my favourites so far this year, and I think it’s going to be hard to beat.
I take the opportunity to invite you to listen to Animal, a track with more than 300k plays on Spotify, which is impressive.
Do you know rock with a kind of romance on it? That’s the case here, as well as a VEVO music video, a singer in psychedelic makeup performing, and the way the formula was executed made it all interesting.
The instrumentals are simple but powerful, and the guitars are raw and enjoyable to listen to. The drums have a great sound to them too—perfectly matched with the vocals.
The vocals themselves are quite different from what you might expect—they’re female, high pitched and very unique with a division of voices that makes it very harmonic, and I loved it!
Overall this band has put together an excellent single above their other previous releases, which I recommend you to explore. Don’t forget to listen to their new release, watch their VEVO music video and follow them on Spotify.
9) KILLER KINGS – Goodbye (So Long)
I’m pretty sure I’ve found my new favourite band, and their name is KILLER KINGS. If you’re into alternative rock with a little bit of pop mixed in, then you need to listen to their single Goodbye (So Long). The band is based in the UK, and I love that they have such a nostalgic sound—it reminds me of the 90s, but with a more modern twist.
The lead singer has such an incredible voice—it’s deep, but not too deep; it’s smooth, but not too smooth; it’s just right! And I love how he incorporates some falsetto into his singing to create even more depth. The lyrics are personal and heartfelt, which makes me feel like he’s singing directly to me when I listen to this song.
The music itself is really mellow, but also upbeat at the same time—and it’s easy on the ears. There’s no screaming or yelling in this song, so if you’re looking for something relaxing and fun to listen to while driving or working out or doing errands around town then definitely check out this track!
Now, show them that you will not say Goodbye, and follow the band on Spotify.
10) HYATTSVILLAIN – Ugly On The Inside
It’s been a while since I’ve heard some good alternative rock music. I’m not sure why I’ve been so out of the scene lately—I think my Spotify account just kind of fell out of date and no one was telling me.
But when I got wind of this new band called HYATTSVILLAIN, I had to check them out. Their single “Ugly On The Inside” is an anthem for the ages, and their video on Youtube is super edgy and cool.
The band is based in the US and is super into post-punk rock n roll—they’re like if you took the best parts of Green Day, Nirvana, and all those other classic 90s bands who made us proud to be American again. They have a sound that’s both hard and soft at once, and I know it’s heavy metal, but that’s what makes them totally unique.
They have their own vibe going on and they’re not afraid to show it off. If you’re into indie rock music (or even if you’re not) then you should definitely check these guys out ASAP!
Well, follow them on Spotify and show your love.
